Leah Goddard



Bio
Leah Goddard has a BS in Education from Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania.   Leah contributes to several wood carving magazines, and has authored her own book “Carving Nature’s Rascals: Wood Carving an Armadillo, Skunk, Mouse and Raccoon.”  She has competed nationally and has won numerous awards as well as best of show in the Artistry in Wood show.  Leah has taught wood carving for the past fifteen years.



















Class description

Carve a realistic animal of choice using hand tools and a wood burner.  Starting from a basswood rough-out, learn the techniques for creating realistic carvings using proper proportion.  Close attention will be paid to anatomy, detail and texturing, as well as painting and finishing to make the carving come to life.  Project choices include a gorilla, buffalo, wolf and bear, beaver, raccoon and others.  All painting materials will be provided by the instructor.
